What do I need to hire a vehicle with Station Self Drive?
The essential items you will need to bring with you when hiring a vehicle from Station Self Drive are a valid drivers licence, valid photo ID, and a credit or debit card. You will also need to prove you are over 21 years of age. There is additional documentation required for international drivers or European Travel. For this you will need all of the above and a valid passport and proof of return of travel.
Do I need insurance to rent a vehicle?
No. At Station Self Drive you don't need to purchase insurance as we provide a damage waiver within the cost of your hire. However in the event of a collision, damage or theft you are required to pay the first £750.00 excess aged 25 and over. If you are aged 21-24 you will be responsible for the first £1150.00 excess in line with our insurance. As a customer you can take out your own ‘customer own insurance’ if you wish to do so.
How old do I need to be to hire a vehicle?
All drivers must be a minimum of 25 years old. You can be aged 21 and above and hire a vehicle with us, however there are certain restrictions.
What are the driver's licence requirements for car hire in the UK & Ireland?
All drivers must produce a full, valid driving licence. Non-EU licence holders are required to have an international driving permit if the licence is not in English. All renters must produce photographic ID - this can be a passport or driving licence. Any driver of a 17 seater minibus must have Category D1 on their driving licence.
Can I hire a car with a debit card?
We accept all major debit cards except for Maestro, Electron, Solo and pre-paid cards.
Can I get my vehicle delivered and collected from my location?
Yes, however there is an extra charge. It is £10 for the first 10 miles and then £1 per mile additional charge on delivery or collection to location.
Can I collect or return a vehicle outside the opening hours?
No, we only accept collection, delivery and return during opening hours.
What condition will my vehicle be in upon collection?
It will be clean and roadworthy, we expect you to return it in the same condition. All our vehicles are smoke free and pet free. There is a £80 valet fee for vehicles returned that require professional cleaning.
What is a collision damage waiver?
It protects you in the event of a collision and is included in the cost of your hire.
How much does a collision damage waiver cost?
It cost £20.00 per day for cars and £25.00 per day for vans and minibuses. This will reduce your excess from £750.00 to £250.00 in an event of a collision.
What happens if my vehicle breaks down or is involved in a collision?
You can call us on 0330 159 0601 and follow the instructions on the safety card inside the vehicles glove compartment.
As the responsible party you must take down the date, time, location, witness details, other parties name, registration, vehicle, no. of passengers and contact number.
How much does it cost to rent a vehicle?
The price of the vehicle varies depending on its size and availability.
Are there any additional charges?
No, however if the vehicle is returned damage, dirty, less fuel, or late returning then you will be charged appropriately.
Can I hire a vehicle if I forget my driving licence?
No this isn’t possible.
Can I book a vehicle, pay for it and get someone else to collect it?
No, the person who pays for the booking must be the driver of vehicle. You can purchase additional drivers for an extra £20 per day.
Yes, however you must provide proof of return travel as well as a valid passport. You must also purchase Green Card insurance and breakdown cover with our insurance provider.
Can I change or cancel my booking?
Yes, you can extend your booking by contacting us. If you wish you bring the vehicle back early, you will still be charged for the initial rental period. You can also cancel your booking with a full refund providing this is 72 hours before the booking.
Do vehicles have mileage limits?
Yes, there are mileage limits for each vehicle.
How can I get a copy of my receipt?
You will be given a receipt with your purchase. If you require one after this please email stationselfdrive@yahoo.com
Do I need to return a car with a full tank of fuel?
No, you need to return the car with the same amount of fuel in it when you received the car. If the fuel is lower when you return it, you will be charged additionally.
Can I book extras like booster seats?
Yes, these are subject to availability and will incur an extra charge.
